The Faces We Love!

“The Faces We Love“, Jessica’s brand new exhibit of paintings, is not to be missed! This collection of work is comprised almost entirely of new paintings and celebrates the ones who bring constant love and devotion into our lives - our pets!

Whether you are a “dog person” or a “cat person”, there is a painting in this collection that is sure to remind you of your four-legged friend. Jessica’s love of animals is evident as she carefully considers the composition and color pallet in every piece, capturing the personality of each pet she paints. The end result is anything but a standard looking portrait. Each painting is as unique as the pet featured in it.

Jessica's birthday!

Jessica took a little time off this past week to celebrate her birthday. She and her husband took a site seeing car ride from Leesburg to Fredericksburg, VA and stopped at several great little spots along the way. One fabulous photo op’ was on Rt. 17, between Bealeton and Sumerduck, at Hugo’s (which is a roller rink turned dance hall and Friday night auction hotspot).
Every little town they stopped in had great galleries, boutiques, ice cream shops and scenery. It was a wonderful trip!
What do you get an artist on her birthday? ART SUPPLIES, of course! And a great apron that reads “Support Living Artists, the dead ones don’t need it.” Perfect!

Happy Father's Day

June 18th is Father’s Day so I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to mention my immense appreciation for my dad. Ever since I was a child and his home-based graphic design studio included a toddler sized drawing board just for me, he has been a wonderful source of encouragement. Now that I am an adult with my own painting studio, he continues to offer wisdom and stellar suggestions on what I should paint next. In fact, I give him all the credit for one of my favorite paintings that now hangs at the Stray Cat Café. The concept of a giant cat playing so intensely that it is oblivious to the fact that it is endangering a monument like Stonehenge, is something that only my dad would conjure up!
With ideas like that, it is no surprise that his individuality and creativity make him entertaining to talk to and joy to work with.
He has inspired me from the very beginning to be an artist and continues to inspire me to this day.

Happy Father’s Day!

June 6, 2006 was National Hunger Awareness Day

June 6, 2006 was National Hunger Awareness Day. To encourage awareness of this important event I created a large, multi-panel painting that now hangs at Reston Interfaith's Food Pantry and Emergency Assistance location. Reston Interfaith provides food and emergency assistance, as well as a variety of other important services, to families in need. They provide necessary support to the community and now their food distribution location has a cheerful new look!
